Inside the Sound of Abot OnAir

Abot OnAir isn’t built around somebody else’s playlist. We’re building our own sound.

At the center of Abot OnAir is a growing catalog of original music spanning R&B, soul, neo-soul, hip-hop, pop, funk, acoustic music and sounds that don’t always fit neatly into a single category.

But the goal isn’t simply to create songs. It’s to build a radio station where the music, artists and programming feel connected.

Original music. Original artists.

Abot OnAir features original artist personas, each with their own musical identity, style and sound. As the catalog grows, you’ll hear familiar voices return with new releases while discovering new artists throughout the station.

That gives us the freedom to develop artists over time rather than treating every song as an isolated release.

One song can have more than one life.

Some songs may return in completely different forms.

An R&B record heard during regular rotation might later appear as a stripped-down version during Acoustic Afternoon. Another track could receive a new mix, alternate arrangement or throwback-inspired treatment for one of our specialty programs.

The song may be familiar. The experience doesn’t have to be.

Different shows create different ways to listen.

Programming is a major part of the Abot OnAir sound.

Flashback explores music inspired by earlier eras. Soundscape goes deeper into discoveries, alternate sounds and tracks outside the regular rotation. Vinyl Sessions focuses on warm grooves and album-inspired listening, while Weekend Wrap brings standout music from across the station together at the end of the week.

Even the time of day matters.

The station can sound bright and energetic in the morning, more relaxed in the afternoon, heavier during Saturday night and completely different after midnight.

And the sound will keep evolving.

New songs, new artist personas, alternate versions and entirely new musical directions will continue to become part of Abot OnAir.

Some tracks will become station favorites. Others will appear in New & Rising, move into the Top 10, or become Listener Favorites.

That’s part of what we’re building: not just a collection of songs, but a living radio station with its own musical world.
